People with type B blood are descended from ancient nomads who originally lived in India and the Ural Mountains, claims Dr. Peter D'Adamo, the creator of the Blood Type diet. According to D'Adamo, a type B individual will be thinner and healthier if she eats a diet that mimics what these ancestors regularly consumed. A person with blood type B who eats other foods, D'Adamo warns, will be likely to suffer from weight gain, diabetes and autoimmune diseases such as lupus. Low- or non- fat dairy products like milk, yogurt, cottage cheese and other cheeses such as mozzarella or goat cheese are recommended for type B individuals on the Blood Type diet. Use full- fat products, butter and cheeses like cream cheese or Parmesan sparingly, but do not have blue cheese or ice cream. Grains. Common cereal grains such as wheat, corn, couscous, barley and rye are not allowed for individuals with type B blood, advises D'Adamo. Instead, a type B person should use oat or rice flour, breads made from brown rice and grains like oatmeal, oat bran, spelt or millet. You can have quinoa, pasta made with semolina and pumpernickel up to two times a week.
